nearby Hafren Forest, from which the Rivers Hafren (Severn), Wye
and Rheidol rise has many signposted walks and bounds the Clywedog
Dam, home to sailing, fishing and nature trails.
Further
south near Rhyader is the home of the Red Kite. Here there are nature
walks from the Elan Valley visitor’s centre and a farm where,
in winter, visitors can see the Red Kites feed.
The delightful riverside walk seen above is less 500m from the Town
Cottage and is adjacent to the pretty local parish church.
For
the more active visitor there are two local golf courses, a driving
range, pony and quad trekking, clay pigeon shooting and a sports
centre for badminton, squash, swimming & Mountain biking.
